What is DXF?

DXF stands for Drawing Exchange Format, which is a file format used for exchanging CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings between different software programs. DXF was developed by Autodesk, the same company that created AutoCAD, one of the most popular CAD software programs.

DXF files contain information about the 2D or 3D models, including their geometry, layer information, and annotations. DXF files can be opened and edited by many CAD software programs, making it a widely used format for sharing CAD data between different platforms.

In addition to CAD software, DXF files can also be opened by other programs, such as graphics editing software, that support the format. DXF files are often used in industries such as engineering, architecture, and manufacturing for creating and sharing digital models of parts, assemblies, and buildings.
